Why MENA brands are switching from in-house to agencies

The cost math has flipped. Senior talent + tools + benefits = more than retainers.

The 2026 shift

Three years ago, MENA brands hired in-house: full-time marketing manager, designer, content writer. Total monthly cost: 60–90k EGP for the team alone.

Today the same brands are signing with agencies on 25–50k EGP retainers.

What changed?

  1. Senior MENA talent salaries doubled. Junior is now 18k, senior is 45k+, head-of-marketing is 80k+. A 4-person team costs 200k/month.
  2. Tool sprawl. Each role needs 3–5 SaaS subscriptions. HubSpot, Figma, Mixpanel, Klaviyo, Looker. Total: 8–15k EGP/month per team.
  3. Hiring is slow. Senior marketing hires take 60+ days. Agencies onboard in a week.
  4. Performance accountability. A bad employee costs you 3 months of severance + lost time. A bad agency? You switch in 30 days.

When in-house still wins
